This week in Writing we learned: This week in Reading we: “In the Shade” Weekly Newsletter The week of: September 18, 2017 Math Writing This week in Writing we learned: Building up our Writing Stamina What a Personal Narrative is. How to write Small Moments (this is our first unit of writing). Strategies to spell tricky words when Ms. Shade is working with another student. What to do when we have writers block How to use our 5 senses to add details. Using our 5 senses to learn about Fall! Wholes and Parts. What a Rekenrek is Decomposing numbers in 3-4 different ways “Counting On” strategy Decomposing numbers by using number bonds. Throughout the week, students will be sent home with exit tickets. After each lesson, students complete an exit ticket to show their understanding of that day’s lesson. At the top, they will receive a +,check, or -…+ means the student showed full understanding. “Check” means they understood for the most part, and – means they need extra support for Ms. Shade Reading Extra Info This week in Reading we: Read When I was Little and It’s Mine! Made text-to-self connections to enjoy and understand the story. Used Reading Responses Increased our independent reading stamina. Practiced comprehension and answering questions about the text. . Referring back to the text to support thinking. Practiced “Reading with a Partner” Learned how to find a good fit book Please make sure all of the paperwork is completed and turned into me so I can give them to the office! Its FUNRASIER TIME!
