Collaborative Initiative on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (CIFASD)  Opening slide

Original CIFASD CIFASD was funded for 3 years in September 03. Contained 7 Cores, 2 Basic Science U01 projects, and 4 Clinical U01 projects. Went into a 4th year no-cost extension.

Current CIFASD CIFASD was funded for 5 years in September 07. Contains: 3 Cores (Admin, Informatics, Dysmorphology 3 Basic Science U01 projects 4 Clinical U01 projects 2 Developmental Projects (one basic science and one clinical)

Reorganization of the CIFASD More efficient and majority of resources allocated to U01 projects, rather than Cores Greater number of basic science projects Better integration of projects both within and between the basic/clinical science realms More reliance on the Science Advisory Board Addresses the research objectives of the RFA developing diagnostic criteria for FASD at several stages of development develops and tests interventions
