How has science contributed to the use of performance-enhancing drugs? What Science Says! How has science contributed to the use of performance-enhancing drugs?

What Science Says! Performance Enhancing Drugs are improving performance and boosting productivity Scientists are working to discover new drugs and have successfully discovered many performance-enhancing drugs!

What Science Says! Some of the drugs discovered that are used as performance-enhancing drugs can also be used in the medical field Particularly, steroids are commonly prescribed They treat diseases such as arthritis, asthma, auto- immune disease (lupus and multiple sclerosis), skin conditions, and some kinds of cancer http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/steroids.html

What Science Says! Scientists are working to improve the human race! From a science perspective, these drugs are just making individuals more productive

What Science Says! So…if these drugs are helping us, is there anything negative about them?

What Science Says Well of course scientists have discovered the negative side effects of these drugs But that has not stopped them from continuing to search for new drugs to enhance performance

What Science Says! There are known side effects but the dosage needed to produce those effects is not usually known because scientists are prohibited from experimenting with them due to moral standards. This is because the performance- enhancing drugs cannot be tested on humans.

What Science Says! The scientific discoveries and advancements are what has led to the increase in performance- enhancing drug use! With more drugs to use, athletes are more susceptible to attempt to improve their performance by using them.
