Population Distribution and Density LEARNING OBJECTIVES Define Population Distribution & Density Identify Densely and Sparsely Populated areas Explain why an area is densely/sparsely populated.

Key Terms Population distribution – the spread of the population, where people live. Population density – the number of people per km squared. Densely populated – an area with a high number of people per km squared. Sparsely populated – an area where the number of people per km squared is low.

Sparse and densely populated areas Lots of people per Km². Sparsely populated Few people per Km². 2 per Km² 11 per Km²

Choropleth Map to Show Population Densities Annotate your map with areas that are Densely or Sparsely Populated. Try to explain why you think that they are densely or sparsely populated.

Homework Pick a country that is either sparsely or densely populated. Annotate a map to explain why it is either sparsely or densely populated. DUE TUESDAY 1st SEPT
