glexec/SCAS pilot service Status and short-term plans Antonio Retico GDB 10-Jun-09 - CERN

Agenda Update since the last GDB List of Open issues Next Steps Good afternoon! 4th EGEE User Forum - 2/6 Feb 09 - Catania (IT)

Since the last GDB: Partners Coordination: Antonio Retico (CERN) - exit Gianni Pucciani (thanks!) JRA1: Oscar Koeroo (NIKHEF), Mischa Salle Developer, support SA3 contact: Andy Elwell (CERN) (NEW) repl. Gianni Pucciani testing SA1: Angela Poschlad (FZK), Pierre Girard (IN2P3), Jan Jus Keijser (NIKHEF), Peter Love (LANCASTER) (NEW) Site installations Atlas: Jose Caballero, Maxim Potekhine (BNL) PanDA Integration LHCb: Andrei Tsaregorodtsev, Stuart Paterson (CERN) Dirac3 Integration 4th EGEE User Forum - 2/6 Feb 09 - Catania (IT)

Since the last GDB: Sites IN2P3 Two CEs connected to production batch available supporting LHCb (28-May) Two SCAS servers (test of load-balance in progress) (28-May) LANCASTER CE connected to production batch available supporting Atlas (28-May) and LHCb (2-Jun) Issue with voms proxy detected by Atlas under investigation (see later) FZK and NIKHEF Set-up unchanged (supporting both experiments) 4th EGEE User Forum - 2/6 Feb 09 - Catania (IT)

Since the last GDB: Experiments Atlas Trying to run pilots at LANCASTER Plans to let PanDA use glexec during STEP09 LHCb Run basic tests at Lyon (12-May) More complex testing with DIRAC payload in preparation Suffered for lost environment variable 4th EGEE User Forum - 2/6 Feb 09 - Catania (IT)

Since the last GDB: Certification Certification of PATCH #2973 (glexec) in progress Last missing bit (report of certification against CREAM) now available functionality of glexec vs CREAM generally OK Waiting for a comment from CREAM developers on a few issues observed before declaring it certified 4th EGEE User Forum - 2/6 Feb 09 - Catania (IT)

Since the last GDB: Development Script to wrap/unwrap the environment variables Final version (Perl) now available Packaged and built in ETICS (noarch rpm) Testing against different shells/environments being finalised Patch in preparation The package will contain: 1 script to wrap the environment (to be called by the framework) 1 script to unwrap the environment (to be called by the payload job) 1 wrapper script (environment managed transparently running a command under glexec) 1 shell script with usage examples. Will be deployed in the PPS installation as soon as available 4th EGEE User Forum - 2/6 Feb 09 - Catania (IT)

List of open issues (glexec) Reported by bug(s) Status Difficult deployment over non-root WN installations IN2P3 48966 50908 Under discussion (comment made by Maarten) Environment lost after running glexec LHCb na Solution based on wrap/unwrap scripts under development glexec fails if valid VOMS proxy also contains expired extensions Atlas 41472 Should be fixed but it’s happening again at LANCASTER (under investigation) glexec refuses doubly limited proxies 40822 41237 Fixed by PATCH:2990 (LCMAPS) in certification 4th EGEE User Forum - 2/6 Feb 09 - Catania (IT)

Plans Keep running the PPS installation until the end of June DIRAC integration (is end of June OK?) Test of the wrap/unwrap-environment script Release SCAS and glexec (PATCH:2973) as soon as certified Provided that the issue at LANCASTER is understood Wrap/unwrap-environment script to be added alongside later on Doesn’t support sites running WNs on non-root file system (such as IN2P3) 4th EGEE User Forum - 2/6 Feb 09 - Catania (IT)

Questions? ? 4th EGEE User Forum - 2/6 Feb 09 - Catania (IT)
