What is an ADT? http://adegreewithaguarantee.com/

Degree Pathways AA-T and AS-T (Associate Degree for Transfer—ADT) are awarded at Community Colleges. Students then follow the corresponding Transfer Model Curriculum (TMC) at the CSU. Listing of TMCs offered at CI: http://www.csuci.edu/academics/advising/tmc-intro.htm CSUN impaction for transfers depends on major: http://www.csun.edu/impaction/faqs-transfer TAG for UC: Transfer Admission Guarantee Example: Ventura College > UC Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz Six campuses offer a TAG for California community college students in certain majors. UC Transfer Pathway roadmaps Look at the advising forms online, be sure to pay attention to emphases within the major, as it may impact choices you make when you can choose form among courses for the ADT.

Transfer Readiness Students complete CSU GE or CSU IGETC patterns at Community College CSU IGETC pattern includes Speech, but not Area E; student will not be required to fulfill Area E at CSU GE Pathways Follow “By-Major” articulation agreements on ASSIST.org (CSUN/Oxnard College example) Some majors require minimum grades noted in ASSIST, CSU catalogs and on advising forms

Curriculum Alignments Attend a preview day at a 4-year school Fall Previews: Cal Poly (by College) Discover CI Campus Preview Days, Transfer Information Sessions (monthly), Spring Insight UCSB Majors Fairs: in February at CSUN, October at CI Finding majors and schools Choose a major first, then investigate requirements for B.A./B.S. at your top 3 choices Or choose schools first, then investigate which majors they offer and the requirements Use http://whatcanidowiththismajor.com/major/to find majors and careers and strategies to succeed Use www.assist.org to find majors at California public universities (click “Explore Majors”) Identify special requirements for transfer for specific majors http://admissions.sa.ucsb.edu/applying/transfer/selective-majors Try and get your ADT certified at your CC, just like GE certified, and DOCUMENTED on the transcript before your 4 year gets it.

Bill Cordeiro has approved COMP 101 for any COMP course that comes over on the AS-T, but only COMP 101 actually articulates. The evaluators will grant credit per Bill’s wishes without petitions. Here we see that some TMCs involve a lot of lower division courses as counting for the major. The CI Business degree has 7 lower division required courses. The statistics course for the CI degree is upper division, but the lower division course in the AS-T is stil useful in meeting a GE category, and prepping you for better success in the upper division course. CI B.S. in Business

CI BA in Communication: Organizational The COMM degree at CI has 4 LD required courses.  At Moorpark, this example, you complete two of them in the AA-T.  [Other campuses you might have the opportunity to complete three or all four].  So you would need to take COMM 200 and COMM 205 at Channel Islands if you are coming form Moorpark. The Argumentation and Debate course in the AA-T still counts for a GE category, and will prepare you to do well in COMM 320 Persuasion and Argumentation, the upper division course. CI BA in Communication: Organizational

Another case where within the AA T you can take care of lower division requirements for the major, and other required AT courses will prepare you for success in upper division versions in the same area. OR, as in the SOC R103 and SOC R108 above, where you choose one, if coming to CI you might choose tot take R108 at Oxnard, since Race and Ethnicity is an option in the upper division requirements at CI. You want to look over both sets of criteria and options to plan a roadmap of most interest to you, when you have choices, and most efficient for you when you do not have choices. In the required options for the AA-T, you might want to take the intro to stats if this is a challenging area for you, so you do better in the required 4 unit stats class at CI. And you might want to take History of Mexican Americans or African American history at Oxnard, which would cover American Institutions for you (a CI graduation requirement). CI B.A. in Sociology

Here is a good example of why you should be sure to sort “By-Major” in ASSIST, since the Math courses show up here. If you were to do “By Department” you would not see the degree requirements, but all courses in Psychology. In terms of mapping the AA-T to the B.A., here doing the lower level stats will get you ready for upper level stats – native students also have to take two levels of statistics. If you take PSY V30, this will also satisfy the Multicultural Graduation Requirement at CI. CI B.A. in Psychology

To get the most out of ADT Complete American Institutions requirement prior to transfer When selecting GE courses, may want to choose those contained within the ADT Once at CI, follow TMC advising or catalog forms, located on the Advising Website Resources prior to transfer CSU Mentor CCC Counselors CSU Admissions Counselors CCC and CSU campus websites and catalogs www.assist.org (will change summer ‘17) www.ADegreeWithAGuarantee.com Resources after transfer CSU Campus website and catalog CSU Academic and Faculty Advisors and advising websites CSU TMC advising and catalog forms/road maps

What is TAG? http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/transfer/guarantee/

UC Degree Pathway Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) offers students early review of academic records, early admission notification and specific guidance about major preparation and general education coursework. Keep in mind: TAG applications are due Sept. 30, but you can only apply for a TAG at one campus. To keep your options open, apply to other UC campuses during the regular application cycle (Nov. 1-30). The TAG Matrix provides a list of participating campuses and campus-specific requirements to qualify.

How to Pursue TAG Use the UC Transfer Admission Planner to complete the TAG application, and review it with your community college counselor and/or UC campus TAG adviser. You’ll need to submit it Sept. 1–30. You’ll find out if your TAG is approved in November. If it is, fulfill all remaining coursework and GPA requirements in your TAG agreement. Fill out the application for admission to UC and submit it Nov. 1–30.
