Topic: Macro nutrients
Presentation transcript:

Learning Objective: To understand how diet effects performance. So that: I can answer a range of exam style questions I can describe the effects of micro nutrients. I can explain how micronutrients are required for bodily functions and state how this may help sporting performance. I can explain how diet effects sporting performance both macro and micronutrients. Task 1 Task 2 Text back here! Task 4 Mo Farah requires energy for his event. Which nutrients will he mainly require and why? Mo Farah needs energy to run a marathon. Which micronutrients will he need and why? What impact will this have sporting performance How can Mo Farah maximise the effectiveness of Carbohydrates before and during a marathon. How can he help his body recover after his performance. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Task 3

Lesson plan: Starter: Use last weeks exit ticket as a sentence stem for this week. TASK: give your exit ticket to someone else They have to turn that point into a developed sentence Main task Intro lesson objectives and outcomes. This lesson in about developing students skills in constructing 6 mark questions. Outline the question. Go through slides 1 – 7 to model, (students will give you these pre-written answers more than likely) Give each table a different macronutrient to complete. At end of set time feedback and you will get something like slide 8. KEY PART: How do they turn this knowledge into developed sentences (see slide 9) They can either write the DS’s onto each hexagon, use a post it etc. Use this to write the first paragraph of the answer. Take some examples to share. Either photograph hexagons work or use other slides to provide plan for other two macronutrients either for homework, next lesson. Use marking grid attached to help mark

OBJECTIVE TO APPLY YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF DIET TO A 6 MARK QUESTION. WHY? Because diet is due to come up as a 6 mark question as it hasn’t before. HOW? Through planning, developing sentences, analysing mark the scheme and assessment – over the next 2 lessons. I can identify several key factors of diet that are related to the question. 7 - 6 I can begin to develop my sentences to show how diet links to performance. 5 - 4 I can explain in detail how diet and dietary intake effects performance in relation to the question 3 - 1
