24th World Scout Jamboree – North America Dorset UK Contingent Unit 74 – Brownsea Unit 75 - TBC

WHEN - 22ND JULY – 2ND AUGUST, 2019 WHERE - WEST VIRGINA, USA The 24th World Scout Jamboree will be an adventure beyond anything you can imagine. It is to be hosted jointly between Boy Scouts of America, Scouts Canada and the Scout Association of Mexico. The UK Contingent will be made up of participants, their Unit Leaders, International Service Team and a Contingent Management and Support Team (UK Contingent Team). Summit Bechtel Reserve

UNLOCK YOUR WORLD The 24th World Scout Jamboree team named the theme for this year’s jamboree "Unlock a New World" to reflect the new adventures, cultures and friendships that will be shared by Scouts from around the world during the 12-day event.

ADVENTURE AWAITS Why 24th WSJ? The Jamboree Experience Jamboree Blog The World Scout Jamboree is an educational event that brings together the world’s Scouts to promote peace and mutual understanding and to develop leadership and life skills. The Jamboree Experience Daily life at the jamboree will be filled with adventure, new friendship, and cultural experiences as Scouts meet fellow Scouts from around the world. Jamboree Blog The New World News is the official jamboree blog and will feature the latest news and information about the 24th World Scout Jamboree.

CHART YOUR COURSE PARTICIPANT INTERNATIONAL SERVICE TEAM VOLUNTEERS To be eligible as a youth participant at the 24th World Scout Jamboree, Scouts must have been born between 22 July 2001 and 21 July 2005. Older participants can consider applying to become a member of the International Service Team (IST), the contingent team or a unit leader.  INTERNATIONAL SERVICE TEAM VOLUNTEERS The 24th World Scout Jamboree is building an International Service Team (IST) of up to 9,000 Scouters to deliver the jamboree program. Scouts who are at least 18 years of age at the start of the jamboree are welcome to join the IST. IST members should be ready to perform any tasks necessary for the jamboree. In addition, IST members must register and attend the jamboree as part of the UK contingent. Members of the International Service Team should plan to arrive prior to the official jamboree start date, 22 July 2019, and may depart after the official jamboree end date, 2 August 2019. IST members are expected to work hard and fulfill a vital role in motivating and supporting participants and providing services, program and facilities. Some roles may require long working hours or working at night. IST members will help ensure that all young people attending the Jamboree leave with a wider view of the world, a deeper understanding of North America and a renewed commitment to Scouting. IST members will work as part of a team and we are looking for people with a positive attitude who are ready to lend a hand with whatever needs to be done. To build the best possible team, IST members will have the opportunity to express their top three volunteer job preferences when the registration process opens. A catalogue of IST jobs with a description will be provided. Please note: applications of IST members must be approved by his/her contingent before the jamboree planning team can make a job assignment.

DAY VISITORS Day visitors will have the opportunity to visit the World Scout Center with exhibits from Scouting countries across the globe. In addition, day visitors will experience activities in the Scott Summit Center, which offers opportunities for adventure and outdoor education at Action Point, Goodrich Lake, Gateway Village, Legacy Village and Boulder Cove. More information about visitor dates, times and cost will be made available in late 2018. To ensure a positive experience for all participants and visitors, the number of day visitors may be limited each day. Advance registration will be provided, and is recommended. Please note: West Virginia is a rural area, and most hotel rooms near the jamboree will be reserved by groups supporting the jamboree operation. For planning purposes, anticipate one- to two-hour travel time to and from the jamboree each day. The 24th World Scout Jamboree does not provide transportation or housing for day visitors to the Jamboree site.

HOME HOSPITALITY (HO HO FOR SHORT) One of the best parts of any international experience is a home stay, as it provides the opportunity to live with a family and experience their day to day life and see their country as no tourist normally can.   This is the reason why we build the UK Jamboree experience around this. HO HO may take place in any of the three host Nations – Canada, Mexico or the USA. HO HO may take place before or after the Jamboree – further information and confirmation will be provided in 2018.
