Beethoven By Lucy and Eden

Childhood Ludwig van Beethoven was born, in Bonn, on the 17th of December, 1770. He was born in this house, located at 515 Bonngasse. Beethoven was born in the attic room of his family home in Bonn, Germany during December of 1770. His father, who was a singer, was his first teacher. After a while, even though he was still only a boy, Ludwig became a traveling performer, and soon, he was supporting his family.

How he became famous (his story) In his early twenties, Beethoven moved to Vienna, where he spent the rest of his life. Beethoven was one of the first composers to make a living without being employed by the church or a member of the nobility. At first, he was known as a brilliant pianist. But when he was around 30 years old, Beethoven started going deaf. Even though he could no longer hear well enough to play the piano, Beethoven composed some of his best music after he was deaf!

What did he compose He earned money from public concerts, he wrote nine symphonies, 32 piano sonatas, one opera, five piano concertos, and many chamber works including some amazing string quartets. WoO 6: Rondo for Piano and Orchestra Opus 62: Coriolan Overture (1807) Overtures composed for Beethoven's opera Fidelio, Op. 72: Opus 138: Leonore Overture "No. 1" in C major (1807) Opus 72: Leonore Overture "No. 2" in C major (1805) Opus 72a: Leonore Overture "No. 3" in C major (1806) Opus 72b: Fidelio Overture in E major (1814)
