CLASSIFICATION OF PLANTS

PLANTS They are divided into herbs, shrubs and trees Herbs are short plants with soft stem .Shrubs are medium sized plants with hard stem .Trees are large plants with woody stem

PLANTS ARE DIFFERENT TYPES Shrubs are medium sized plants eg:-rose,tulsi Herbs are very small plants eg:-grasses Trees are very big plants.eg:-mango tree, jack fruit tree. Climbers are the plants that climb on some supports.eg:-Grapes,pea plant Creepers are the plants that creep on the ground.eg:-pumpkin,cucumber.

TREES

Big Plants: Tall, big and strong plants are called trees. They have many branches.                              They stand erect. Trees have strong stem. The stem of a tree is called the trunk. Trees give us shade, fruits and wood.

Shrubs are medium sized plants and strong hard stem. They are perennials. Examples are rose, chinarose, tulsi etc.

Herbs

Herbs The plant in which Flexible and soft stem is called herbs. E.g. Tomato,Tulsi

Stems of some plants are weak. They cannot stand erect on their own. They need the support of another plant or sticks to stand. Those plants are called climbers. Climbers have tendrils to hold the support. Some plants crawl along the ground. They are called creepers. Creepers have weak stem. They cannot stand erect.

3. Classification based on live-cycle. Perennials – Plants that live many year. e.g.- Mango, Coconut, Neem . Biennials – Plants that live for 2 years. e.g.- Carrot, Beat, Radish. Annuals – Plants that live for 1 year. e.g.- Bajara , Jowar , Sunflower. G

3. Classification based on live-cycle. Perennials –A perennial is a plant that lives for three or more years.  Plants that live many year. e.g.- Mango, Coconut, Neem ,Alu,Aster.

3. Classification based on live-cycle. b)Biennials – Plants which require two years to complete their life cycle. e.g.- Carrot, Beat, Radish ,Banana.

3. Classification based on live-cycle. G c) Annuals – Plants that live for 1 year. e.g.- Bajara, Jowar, Sunflower.

Wild and domestic animals

Classification of animals A unicellular organism, also known as a single-celled organism, is an organism that consists of only one cell, unlike a multicellular organism that consists of more than one cell. Ex. Yeast, Amoeba , chlorella Ex. Man , Dog , cat , horse

Based on habitat Terrestrial:Animals who live on land. Aquatic:Animals who live in water. Amphibius animals :Animals who live both on land and in water.

Animals that have a vertebral column . Vertebrate animals : Animals that have a vertebral column . Invertebrate animals : Animals that do not have a vertebral column.

4) Classification based on body covering a) Animal with scale e.g.- Snake, tortoises. b)Animals with hair e.g.-Monkeys,bears. c)Animals with feathers e.g.-parrots,peacocks, sparrow.

Oviparous and viviparous Based on mode of reproduction Oviparous and viviparous

A few leaves of plants like lemon, neem, mint and coriander etc A few leaves of plants like lemon, neem, mint and coriander etc. can be identified by their smell.

TYPES OF LEAVES Some leaves are round, some are long and some are triangular. They are of different colours as well. Some have straight margins some are uneven.
