Background: RECP Advanced course At the end of August and beginning of September 2 courses was initiated by NCPC. This was the first RECP advanced course held in Pretoria and Cape Town. Enstra Paper and Mpact was host plants for this course Duration is 1 Year course And focuses on Practical implementation
Minimum requirements for the RECP and EnMS expert level courses Minimum requirements for the RECP expert level courses: Completed the relevant 2-day end user training. 3 year degree in environmental science or any engineering discipline combined with 4 years’ experience as Environmental Manager OR Plant Engineer OR Energy Manager OR Energy Efficiency Practitioner OR Sustainability Manager OR Industrial Efficiency Manager OR Environmental Sustainability/Energy Consultant All CV’s and proof of qualifications must be submitted together with the registration forms for screening purposes. You will be notified in due course whether you have been accepted or not onto the training.

Course content Provide theory on RECP and its process from ncpetion to implementation Draw out process flow of plant - Understand all resources used within plant Water Energy Waste Raw materials - Collect 1-2 year data to analyse - Try to understand the correlations between resources and production
Benefits for the host plant By allowing expert level training at the plant, companies are enabled to identify RECP improvement opportunities. The lead facilitator compiles the report based on the submissions of the trainees. As an added benefit, participating companies also qualify for the enrolment of two delegates in the advanced programme and one in the expert programme at no charge.

Implementation at Candidate sites To date implementation of opportunities are in the millions One company saving R 5,8 Milion for 2 projects implemented Another site saving R 110 K per month on energy savings project Another company saved around R 65 000 for waste reduction only. One company will be saving millions per month for reduced water and waste opportunities. The savings vary based on the size of the company.
