The retail industry (Payless Shoe source Inc.) The retail industry is very important in this economy. It is a sector that compromises individuals or companies in selling products to the consumers to satisfy the consumer’s needs. Payless Shoesource or Collective brands Inc. have several major competitor that compete with them in the market. Such as Brown Shoe company, Shoe Carnival, and Genesco.

History of PaylessShoesource Payless was founded in 1956 in Topeka, Kansas. Their idea was to sale quality shoes at affordable prices in a self select environment. Since then, the company has really grown during the years. Today payless also known as Collective Brand Inc. is one of the largest family footwear retailer in the western hemisphere. The company’s number one goal is to provide the best customer service. 50 years later, the company employs over 25,000 employees worldwide It is a private company own by Golden Gate Capital, and Blum Capital Partners

It grew 3.5 percent from 30 million to 800 million. Genesco Inc., based in Nashville, Tennessee, United States, is a publicly owned specialty retailer of branded footwear, licensed and branded headwear and licensed sports apparel and accessories and is a wholesaler of branded and licensed footwear. Its was revenue 2.6 billion in 2013.
