Biography: Read the short biography. Answer the following questions on the W.S. Where did Twain grow up? When he was a young man, what was Twain’s occupation? Why is Huck Finn considered his masterpiece?

Mark Twain Real name: Samuel Leghorne Clemens Clemens' pseudonym, Mark Twain, comes from his days as a river pilot. It is a river term which means two fathoms (one fathom=1.8 meters) or 12-feet when the depth of water for a boat is being sounded. "Mark Twain" means that it is safe to navigate. The term would be yelled when it was safe to start steering your riverboat down the Mississippi.
