Systems of Equations Lesson 41: Solve by using a matrix Texas Algebra I Systems of Equations Lesson 41: Solve by using a matrix
Lesson Objectives The student will be able to: (A.8.b) Solve a system of equations by using a matrix
Why use a matrix to solve a system? You can use your graphing calculator to help you solve a system. The best way to let your calculator help you is by using a matrix. EX: 2x - 3y = 4 5x + 6y = 6
Using a graphing calculator EX: 2x - 3y = 4 5x + 6y = 6 Now that you have your equations entered into matrices, call the left side matrix A and the right side B (the calculator will solve for the variables. Enter your matrices into you calculator Enter The calculator will display the solution matrix
Another example (this method is really useful for systems with 3 or more equations!!) 2x + 3y = 12 10x +5y = 6 x – y = 2
