SSS Implementation using the Server to Server Approach Server to server connection established between USC server and NSC server. USC server authenticates to the NSC server and passes student credentials. The school is authenticated and an HTML response is returned. The USC server passes the HTML response to the student’s browser. Considerations: Provides higher level of security Requires expertise related to the school’s application server environment
SSS Implementation Using Shibboleth and InCommon Provides for a standardized implementation process Service available to students who do not have an SSN( international students) Readily accessible through MyUSC portal single sign-on services
Implementation Requirements Add 10-digit USCID to existing data feed from USC to Clearinghouse Configure USC Shibboleth Identity Provider to release student USCID and USC OPEID to Clearinghouse at student login Update Clearinghouse link in OASIS to new Clearinghouse site. Less than 40 hours of effort Relied heavily on Stanford pilot
