Architectural Elevations Window Types: Fixed Window Fixed windows are windows that do not open. They are often referred to as “Picture Windows” and are used to provide uninterrupted scenic views.
Architectural Elevations Window Types: Single Hung Window Moveable Sash Most common window type used in the modern construction. With a single hung window, only the lower sash is capable of being moved. Stationary Sash CLOSED OPEN
Architectural Elevations Window Types: Double Hung Window Double hung windows are made so that both sashes can be raised or lowered. Moveable Sash Moveable Sash CLOSED OPEN
Architectural Elevations Window Types: Casement Window Casement Windows are hinged on the side like a door, and are opened and closed by turning a hand crank . They may be grouped in pairs or installed individually. The casement window shown at right is a double casement. Single casement windows are also available. Architectural Elevations Stationary Sash Window Types: Sliding Window Sliding windows are commonly used where small windows that are easy to operate are required such as above a kitchen sink or above a water closet.
