Transition to Middle School Lovin Elementary Parent Workshop Math Strategies February 25, 2013 Leanne Luttrell, Math Coach
What can we expect in middle school? What can parents do over the summer to help their children be prepared? Today is a very brief overview of some resources you may find helpful.
It is not reasonable to expect to review every single thing your child has learned throughout the year! Because you have limited time, focus on reviewing and strengthening the skills that are the basic foundational skills: Whole Numbers Fractions Decimals When students have a conceptual understanding of mathematical concepts, they are able to apply that understanding in more than one area!
Meaning of Multiplication Whole Numbers 23 groups of 18 23 × 18 20 + 3 200 160 30 24 10 + 8
Meaning of Multiplication Fractions of ×
Meaning of Division Whole Numbers Fractions 36 ÷ 3 = 12
