Denise McKibbin #INWED17 Quality Manager A-one+ I left school at 16 and started working as an administrator and cashier with HM Customs & Excise. A few years later I changed my career path, left HM Customs & Excise to work for a training provider. I managed a training centre in Wakefield and whilst there I attained a business administration NCQ Level 3 and my assessor qualifications in administration and customer services. Unfortunately the training provider went into liquidation, which was when I joined Area 12 in 2005 as an administrator. Sometimes in life you have to take a step back to move forward. Through my previous experience of managing internal and external audits I was quickly promoted to a quality auditor and quality manager, attaining my internal auditor and lead auditor qualifications. I have loved the jobs I have had over the years and made a number of friends who I still remain in contact with today. A number of which we have been friends for over 30 years. What I like most about my current role is that it brings me into contact with all aspects of the engineering business and what A-one+ is about. If I could give some advice to the 16 year old girl starting her career in HM Customs & Excise (which at that time was very much a male dominated civil service department) it would be anything is possible, persevere and you will attain your goals. #INWED17 A-one+
