Volume Peter Gibby

Volume Like area, it’s the space enclosed by the shape or form. We measure area in square units, volume is measured in cubic units.

Volume of a Cube Like Area, we multiply length times width, but then multiply by the depth for the 3rd dimension. V=s3 A rectangular prism has a volume of length times width times depth as well. V=lwd

Pyramids As you noticed, a triangle is half the area of a rectangle. Similarly pyramids are 1/3 the volume of rectangles. V=1/3Ah where A is the area of the base.

Spheres and Cylinders The volume of a sphere is defined as 4/3πr3 A cylinder has the volume of its base times its height. V= πr2h

YAY! Looks like you have completed my “3. Geometry” section! If you need more practice on any particular section, return to www.perfectmath.weebly.com and find the practice for that section. Otherwise continue to “4. Trigonometry” (Have some more math cake!)
