Shop Safety

5 Rules To Live By ALWAYS THINK BEFORE YOU ACT. LISTEN TO ALL DIRECTIONS BEFORE YOU START WORK. THERE IS NEVER ANY HORSEPLAY ALOUD IN THE SHOP. APPROPRIATE CLOTHING SHOULD BE WORN ART ALL TIMES, THIS INCLUDES SAFETY GOGGLES WHEN APPROPRIATE. EVERYONE WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE CLEANING UP OF THE SHOP

But I Know How To Use That Everyone and I mean everyone will take and pass with 100% accuracy a safety test There are no exceptions to this rule Everyone will also take a safety test on each machine that we will use.

Eye Protection Is A Must You may bring your own eye protection but it has to be approved No one will use a tool with out eye protection

The “X” Factor There will be no “X” factor because anyone not following the rules or directions will be removed from the shop.

The Drill Press This is not the Delta Uses: Drilling holes Pilot holes Any time it has to be drilled and it has to be strait this is your macnine

Scroll Saw AKA the jig saw Uses: Cutting shapes Detailed work that is small If it is small and complex this is your saw

The Ban Saw Saw with a continuous blade Uses: Cut simple curves and arcs

Jointer Used to square stock Also can be used to Make Rabbit Joints

Lathe Uses: Used to turn wood Can Make: Chair Legs Baseball bats Ink Pens

Rotary Sander Uses: Sanding objects Safety precautions must be used Eye protection must be worn

Table Saw Students will not Use. Uses: Cutting wood either cross cut or rip cut

Planer Used to make Stock the correct thickness

Router One of the Most Useful Tools in the shop. Used for Decorative Cuts as Well as Milling Stock.
