ACTION VERBS Do you remember what a predicate is? There are two kinds of predicates: Simple predicates (which is just the verb): Complete predicates give more information: Mr. Matt is. Mr. Matt likes. Mr. Matt is from Canada. Mr. Matt likes to eat pizza in his pajamas on Saturdays.

ACTION VERBS Action verbs are part of a predicate, but are used for doing or thinking something. You must always remember that third-person verbs are (almost) always different! I walk We walk You walk You walk He/She/It walks They walk

For third-person, many of the rules are the same as for plurals. ACTION VERBS For third-person, many of the rules are the same as for plurals. -x -ch -o -s -sh -ss +ES I watch We watch You watch You watch He/She/It watches They watch

For third-person, many of the rules are the same as for plurals. ACTION VERBS For third-person, many of the rules are the same as for plurals. (consonant) + y (strawberry) -Y +IES I carry We carry You carry You carry He/She/It carries They carry

ACTION VERBS Don’t forget that the same rules apply to “do” when you have a negative sentence. But the main verb doesn’t change for any person. I don’t walk We don’t walk You don’t walk You don’t walk He/She/It doesn’t walk They don’t walk

ACTION VERBS What part of these sentences are the predicates? He walk my dog every morning. I watch TV in the living room. My dad carries my backpack to school. You listen to the radio in the car on your way to school.

ACTION VERBS What action verb can go in the space? (There are many answers, give me one that make sense) (It can be more than one word; like a phrasal verb) We _______ baseball on Fridays. My mom ______ delicious spaghetti. I _______ my hair in the morning. That dog ______ its ball in the park.
