Ten Money Saving Tips For Teenagers By Maddy Jamieson

Tip Number 1 Limit the number of times you eat out or get take-out per month or week When you do choose to eat out, don’t always order the most expensive thing on the menu

Tip Number 2 Don’t make impulse buys! Think before you buy, go into a few other stores before you make the purchase You might re-consider your original urge to buy something!

Tip Number 3 Don’t carry lots of cash in your wallet Put what you don’t need for the day in a bank account so you aren’t tempted to spend throughout the day! Only take the cash you know you will need for the day in your wallet

Tip Number 4 Try to save at least half of what you receive This way, you will build good saving habits and learn to budget with less money In no time you’ll notice a huge difference in your savings!

Tip Number 5 Do small side jobs whenever you can around the house or community They can help you make money, meet people and find types of work that interest you!

Tip Number 6 Eat before you leave the house or bring a snack with you Drink water instead of other drinks; it’s free, healthy, and refreshing!

Tip Number 7 Give some of your money to your parents to hold for you, and don’t ask for it back until you need it Tell them to keep it in a safe place, one where you won’t be tempted to take it

Tip Number 8 Spend money as a reward to yourself for doing something good This will help you spend less money and spend more consciously It will also encourage you to do more good things!

Tip Number 9 Keep a record of your spending habits Make sure you include what you bought, how much you spent on it and why you bought it! Write it all down and review your record at the end of the week, try and reduce the total each week

Tip Number 10 Share things with friends to help reduce expenses Food, entertainment and transport costs can be shared among friends to cut down spending
