Tartu Child Support Centre „Children and youth with special needs, suffering from problems of sexual behaviour“ 11/2014 – 11/2015 Tartu Child Support Centre 1

Background of the project Primary objective: Children and youth with special needs will be educated on appropriate sexual behaviour that wouldn’t harm the others and would keep themselves from victimizing. Sub-goal: Specialists who work with the youth are educated to be able to prevent sexual abuse among young people. Necessity of the Project: One on every three children with special needs have become victims of abuse (neglect, physical or sexual abuse), in contrast to every tenth child among not disabled children. Sullivan & Knutson (2000)

Project results 3-day trainings were held in various areas of Estonia. 70 specialists were trained; Information seminars wih trainings. 50 specialists participated; Supporting methodological compendium for teachers was made: „Sexuality and special needs of a child“ I Koolitused: kolm kolmepäevast koolitustsüklit spetsialistidele (asenduskodude töötajad, erivajadusega lastega töötavad pedagoogid, sotsiaaltöötajad, politseitöötajad, psühholoogid), kokku 72 tundi. Koolitajateks on Tartu Laste Tugikeskuse psühholoogid, eripedagoogid ja Eesti Seksuaaltervise Liidu spetsialistid. 1. päev - ülevaade laste väärkohtlemise temaatikast, tutvustatakse väärkohtleja ja ohvri kujunemise riskifaktoreid, põhjuseid, omavahelist seotust, tagajärgi. Räägitakse laste kõrvalekaldunud seksuaalkäitumisest tervete ja erivajadustega laste puhul. Tutvustatakse väärkohtlejate ja väärkohtlemise erinevaid liike. 2. päev - erivajadusega laste õpetamise metoodika. Viivad läbi eripedagoogid, kes on töötanud erivajadusega laste koolis ja omavad praktilist töökogemust erivajadustega laste pedagoogika valdkonnas. 3. päev - seksuaalteadmiste õpetamine poistele ja tüdrukutele, erisused, rollimängude ülesehitus koolituse läbiviimisel - viivad läbi Seksuaaltervise Liidu spetsialistid.

What we (they) achieved Participants of trainings now know how to prevent deviant sexual behaviour of children and youth with intellect disability. They know how to interfere when child has unsuitable sexual behaviour. When teachers have too few experience they know where to seek for help. Supporting compendium comes handy, but they also have work- sheets to educate children on correct sexual behaviour.
