Study Island ribbons to work on this week: O.W.L. “Our Weekly Letter” Ms. Ives’ 4th Grade Class March 27th –31st, 2017 Blended Learning: Instructional Focus: Math- Unit 7 review and assessment, ACT Aspire practice extending multi-step number stories. Reading- Essential Question: “How have our energy resources changed over the years?” Genre: Narrative Nonfiction Strategies: ask and answer questions, main idea and key details; Latin roots Writing- Country Report continues. Students will begin to type a final draft of their research expository essay about their country. Science- “What is light energy?” We will be introducing the concept of light energy and how it transfers from one source to another. Social Studies- Nevada Our Home: Chapter 11- “What are important industries and businesses in Nevada?” and Ch. 11 review. Each week, students are expected to meet their blended learning goals. The goals are as followed: ST Math- 5% weekly, Study Island- 3 ribbons weekly, Power Readers- 2 points weekly. By the end of this week, students should be at 100% on ST Math, 54 points on Power Reader, and 84 ribbons on Study Island. Leading the Pack in Blended Learning: ST Math- Jaidyn is at 82%! Awesome job! Study Island- Vaedynce currently has 85 Blue Ribbons! Great work! Power Readers- Jack has a total of 56.8 AR points total! Wow! Important Information: PLEASE do not forget that the deadline for the Knott’s Berry Farm field trip permission slips and payment are coming up! If you have not returned the permission slips, please do so this week! Permission slips are due March 31st! March 31st report cards will be sent home. We are so close to reaching 100% as a class on ST Math! If your child has not completed ST Math, please help me to encourage them to complete the program! Please encourage your students to work on to ST Math and Study Island at home as often as possible. Check out MyOn for a digital library containing thousands of books that your students can choose from! Because we are now focusing on points for Power Readers instead of crest pieces, encourage your students to read ANY book that they enjoy! Let’s get our kids reading! For all information about upcoming events at Pinecrest Cadence, check out the Cougar Column each week! Program Graduates: ST Math- Alex, Eden, Rylie, Brooklyn B., Abree, Gavin, Alia, Jimmy, Kaniyah, Vaedynce, Mustafa, Jack, Davi, Gage, Liliana, Lillian, Eric, Camille, Brooklin, Tyler, and Gabriel have all completed ST Math and are at 100%! Study Island- Liliana, Davi, Gage, Eden, Eric, Gabriel, Brooklin C. and Tyler have completed all 90 ribbons! Power Readers- Mustafa, Brooklin C., Camille, Gavin, Liliana, Eden, Gage, Eric, Gabe, and Tyler have all met the goal of earning 60 points!
