Community Demonstration Grant Project Examples The following slides provide examples of TSM Community Demonstration Grant projects that have been completed from 2010 – 2014 using a variety of recycled tire rubber products and applications.

Village of Dunnottar, Matlock MB Type of material: Rubber mats Application: Sidewalk Year of construction: 2010 TSM awarded: $5,000 Description: The Village of Dunnottar replaced crumbling and broken concrete sidewalks with rubber sidewalk panels, as the concrete pads could not withstand the weight of septic trucks where they access holding tanks on a weekly basis. The rubber sidewalk panels provide an easy installation, repositioning and maintenance alternative for the community located on the west shore of Lake Winnipeg.

Stars of Promise, Winnipeg MB Type of material: Pour-in-place surface Application: Playground Year of construction: 2011 TSM awarded: $5,000 Description: This East Kildonan daycare received funding to replace their crumb rubber playground surface installed by the former Tire Stewardship Board with a new pour-in-place surface that uses fine mesh crumb rubber and resin mix to produce a durable and safe landing area for children in playgrounds.

Kiddie Kampus, Winnipeg MB Type of material: Sidewalk blocks and soft tiles Application: Playground Year of construction: 2012 TSM awarded: $10,758.32 Description: Resurfaced the playground with rubber soft tiles and sidewalk blocks.

Community Active Living Centre, Carman MB Type of material: Pour-in-place surface Application: Outdoor gym Year of construction: 2012 TSM awarded: $2,950 Description: Installed pour-in-place as a base for the outdoor workout equipment area.

Gordon Bell High School, Winnipeg MB Type of material: Crumb rubber Application: Astro Turf field Year of construction: 2012 TSM awarded: $20,000 Description: Installed crumb rubber with a newly installed Astro Turf field.

Centennial Community Club, Portage la Prairie MB Type of material: Rubber mats Application: Flooring Year of construction: 2013 TSM awarded: $5,463.09 Description: Installed rubber matting in the hallways leading to the ice and in the exercise area.

Portage Regional Recreation Authority, Portage la Prairie MB Type of material: Rubber mats Application: Flooring Year of construction: 2013 TSM awarded: $1,321.23 Description: Installed rubber mats in the player bench and penalty box areas in two arenas.

District Legion Housing Foundation, Carman MB Type of material: Pour-in-place surface Application: Sidewalk Year of construction: 2014 TSM awarded: $5,792.85 Description: Installed pour-in-place recycled rubber for the sidewalks and main entrance of the facility.
