PRACTICE As a class, change some of the words to pronouns. If you would like to make a change, raise your hand. Johnny went with his friend Joey to buy a cat. Johnny immediately noticed a cat named Melinda. Melinda had white and gray fur, and she was very small. Melinda purred at Johnny. Johnny was happy, so Johnny decided to buy Melinda. Joey decided to buy a cat named Charlotte. Charlotte was completely black. Johnny was superstitious, so he told Joey not to buy the black cat. Joey wanted to please Johnny, but Joey loved Charlotte, so Joey bought Charlotte.
