Post-Secondary Planning Guide Highlights *Post-Secondary Planning Guide can be found on the Guidance College & Career Planning webpage: http://www.cpsk12.org/domain/5259 Finding the Best Fit pg. 6 We tell students to research schools based on specific characteristics that they want in a school (major, size, cost, activities, etc.) Students completed the MO Connections School Sort – we encourage you to talk to them about their results Applying 101 pg. 7 Once students have their list of schools of interest, we recommend they start to narrow it down Further research Campus visits Meeting with college reps We recommend applying to between 5-8 schools with a mix of safety, target and reach schools.

Post Secondary Planning Guide Highlights Standardized Testing p. 11 Provides you with more information about the ACT & SAT, SAT Subject tests & ASVAB We also have ACT & SAT handouts for you with national test dates for each exam and RBHS ACT Prep opportunities Financial Aid p. 12 Most scholarships are for seniors; however, there are a few for underclassmen – visit our Guidance Scholarship webpage for a list of current scholarship opportunities. Other scholarship resources are also found on pg. 17 of the Post Secondary Planning guide. FAFSA will be available Oct. 1 of Senior year. Complete the FAFSA4Caster now to get an estimate of eligibility for federal aid https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/estimate Net Price Calculators on school’s website – gives an estimate of how much that specific school will cost you.
