About Me 2 Master’s degrees….and 2 dogs…. Golf & Tennis Spine surgery Want to get pilot’s license Love statistics (and math in general) Any questions about me?

About You! Now it is your turn to introduce yourselves Name Grade Why you’re in AP Stats (be honest)

Classroom Rules/Regulations/Procedures Bathroom policy Raise your hand and ask to go Only one person may go at a time Must take the ‘red card’ with you You will sign the ‘travel log’ when you leave and when you come back Phones No phones out in class They should be off and in your backpack Computers/tablets No other computers/tablets without prior approval If we need them for an activity, we might use chromebooks

Classroom Rules/Regulations/Procedures Questions If you have a question, raise your hand and ASK IT If you think I said something incorrect, ASK If you need help understanding, ASK I am here to help Questions before school/other times Please, if I am in my room, feel free to come ask questions General, specific, whatever Questions while working independently If I am working on something at my desk, but you have a question, should you interrupt me? YES!!!!!!!!!!

Classroom Rules/Regulations/Procedures Course documents Will all be posted to my page on the EHS website (https://www.elizabethschooldistrict.org/Page/304) Syllabus Worksheets Slides Etc.

Classroom Rules/Regulations/Procedures Seating Chart We will start out the year WITHOUT a seating chart I reserve the right to change this in the future Attendance reasons Talking, etc.

Classroom Rules/Regulations/Procedures No Hats School policy No food in class Department policy (maybe school) No iPods/music/headphones during tests or during lecture/discussion Okay during independent work time As long as you continue to work As long as neighbors cannot hear it

Moving on to the Actual Class-specific Information Required materials You need a graphing calculator If you already have one, great! If you need to buy one, get a TI-83 or TI-84 They are by far the most common/popular in the United States They are also the only ones that I know how to use Pencil and/or pen Paper Textbook

Homework You will have homework for almost every class period Graded for completion, not accuracy You should come into class and get your homework out, ready to grade I should not need to remind you to get your HW out Sometimes you will grade it, sometimes you will turn it in directly to me Always for completion

Organization/Notes I will not be checking any binders/notebooks/etc. for this class But you probably still want to keep one so that you have old homework/quizzes/tests to study Could be a binder Could be a notebook Could be a folder You will probably want to take notes during class I will not check these—they are for your own benefit Use whatever format works for you

The Textbook Most of our HW assignments are out of the textbook Although our HW assignments do not list reading the textbook as a part of the HW, it is a good resource to help you understand Particularly if you are struggling with a concept

Grading Homework: 10% of your final grade Midterm Exam: 15% of your final grade Final Exam: 20% of your final grade Chapter tests: 40% of your final grade Project: 15% of your final grade

Contacting me Do it via email Seriously, I don’t like talking on the phone Email me Or walk to my room
