Conflict/Tension GIST: ~ In Chapters 1 & 2, I learned that Matilda is a really smart girl and that her parents seem to only care about themselves. They treat Matilda really badly. ANALYSIS: ~ Even though Matilda is only 5, she is smart and very angry at the way her parents treat her. We learn from her thinking that she is planning to get back at her parents for treating her so meanly. ~ It seems that the author is heading for a character vs. character conflict, Matilda vs her parents. I WONDER: ~ How will a 5 year old girl take revenge on 2 adults, expecially, will she be able to get revenge on her own parents? ~ I wonder where Michael fits into all this.
