Grammar review What have you been doing over the past year to better yourself? Have you been doing enough exercise or sport recently? What have you been doing with your free time recently? What has been going on in the world recently? What have you seen on the news? What have you been reading recently? Think books, magazines and newspapers.

Grammar review cont. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ao2u7F_Qzg Try to note down all the examples of the present perfect continuous in the song Afterwards, we will review the lyrics of the song together. Do you think listening to music is a good way to learn languages? What other ways can we learn a new language without a teacher?

Bucket lists The term bucket list comes from the euphemism “to kick the bucket” which means to die. A bucket list is a list of things that you would like to do before you die. Work in groups of 3-4 and brainstorm. Come up with a list of things you would like to do at least once in your life. Read some of the items from your list out using the phrase “I have never…”. Example: I have never been to Thailand. The groups will discuss their different experiences and whether they would recommend doing them.

Greatest accomplishments Think about your greatest personal achievements and make a mental note of 2 or 3 of them. A handful of you will come to the front of the class to tell us about your achievements. Try to use phrases like “the greatest thing I have ever done is…” and try to use the adverb “already”. The rest of the class is free to ask questions about the achievements of their peers.

Esports What are esports? How are they different from regular sports? Do you think gamers should be considered athletes? Do you think esports should be considered sports? Wimbledon 2017 prize pool: £31.6 million, Federer made £2.2 million Dota 2, the international 2017 prize pool: $24.687 million, team liquid made $10.86 million. The players on team liquid made almost as much as Federer did for winning Wimbledon. What are your thoughts? Does that sound reasonable?

Comparatives and superlatives Which do you find harder? Science or English? What’s the best way to spend your free time? At home or outside? Relaxing or doing something energetic? Justify your answers. Is there anything better than your mum’s cooking? If you could choose: would you like to be more attractive or more intelligent than you are now?

Group activity Get into pairs, each student will take turns asking the other questions. Decide between you who will be student A and who will be student B. Insert the correct comparative or superlative into the gap to complete the sentence. I’ve also removed the articles to make it a little harder. If you have any interesting answers please share them with the class at the end.
