Literacy Phonics Maths Notices Newsletter Reception Class 7th October 2016 Literacy This week we have been concentrating beginning chapters three and four of Peter Pan. We have been exploring Neverland and have been introduced to the lost boys and their home underground. Next week we will be taking a trip to the Mermaids Lagoon and will be introduced to Captain Hook and his pirates! It has been very exciting this week across the school as we have all taken part in Reading Week. It was lovely to see everyone dressed up and you all looked fantastic! We have also continued our journey with Peter Pan into Neverland and we have been reading all about the Lost Boys! Phonics This week we have learnt two new sounds which are ‘g’ and ‘o’. We have been looking at their formations and have been finding different things around the classroom that start with these sounds. We also continued to practice reading cvc words. Additionally, we have now started writing some cvc words using the sounds that we have learnt. Maths This week we have been learning about 2D shapes. We have been learning about their names and properties. It would be great if you could continue practicing learning their names and properties at home. Next week we will be concentration on repeating patterns and number formations. Notices This weeks homework is sound ‘g’ and ‘o’ in your child’s sound book. Please can you continue to read with your child each night. I have also given your child a small pack of cvc words that you could also practice reading. This will help your child with future phonics lessons. Many thanks for your continued support, Miss Brown.
