CROP Insertion Into ISO Container (Some Observations) MITCHELL BATES QASAS, 1st TSC Ft Bragg DSN 593-4687 / 4689 2 SEP 09

CROP Insertion Into ISO Container (Some Observations) PURPOSE: Over 4 deployments between, 2004 thru 2008, it was noted on numerous occasions that CROPS are not always properly secured within the ISO container. These slides are intended to place emphasis on the most noticeable defects. It is hoped that these observations will enhance greater safety during the “responsible drawdown”. It is not intended to go into detail about how to properly secure ammo to a CROP and inserting the CROP into a ISO container. The reference material adequately covers those required standards.

CROP Insertion Into ISO Container (Some Observations) M3 (Summa Model) CROP Restraint mechanism locked into door post shoring slot. NOTE: “tie bar / lashing rod” may prevent proper use of restraint mechanism if it is located higher from the floor than shown. FIX: General Note M-6 of Drawing 19-48-4905-CA17Q6 states to “remove the tie bar”.

CROP Insertion Into ISO Container (Some Observations) M3A1 (Hyundai Model) CROP Restraint mechanism (shims in this case) locked into door post shoring slot. NOTE: “tie bar / lashing rod” may prevent proper use of restraint mechanism if it is located higher from the floor than shown. FIX: General Note M-6 of Drawing 19-48-4905-CA17Q6 states to “remove the tie bar”.

CROP Insertion Into ISO Container (Some Observations) SNAP HOOK DETAIL Floating “D” Ring Snap Hook Anchor rod (not Visible) – interior Side of rail ATTENTION: Unless otherwise specified by the drawing the snap hook should be on the inside of the Floating “D” ring such that the “D” ring is adjacent to the rail. ATTENTION: The snap hook is not to be hooked to the Floating “D” Ring.
