Mocks and exams Mocks based on SAMs/Practice papers (linear exam) will be harder to interpret compared to e.g. F321 (modular exam) Mark schemes are finalised at standardisation using candidates responses – SAMs and Practice papers haven’t been through this process. Grade boundaries are set at awarding taking into account how papers worked, how candidates performed, statistical data (comparable outcomes etc) Ultimate the aims of the exams is to differentiate between candidates across the national cohort.

MCQs Students may need help developing skills in answering these. Questions will be ramped in demand in the live papers. Answer the question first before looking at answers. Answer will include distractors – correct answers shouldn’t be easily guessable. RTQ carefully – sometimes not all calculations need to be completed If candidates get stuck, highlight the Q, move on and come back later – don’t sacrifice Section B for MCQs. No negative marking – put something in.
