May the Light be with you By Kenadi Browne The effects of different artificial and natural light on the height of plants. “The plant’s too tall—it’s going to burn!” Keep this page simple. This is your first page for your presentation.

Scientific Background Similar to Biology Focused on Botany Julius von Sachs—German botanist Again, don’t write a paragraph on this slide. A few bullets and pictures to “show” your audience who you are talking about.

Introduction How do different types of artificial and natural light affect the height of a plant? If 5 different kinds of light are used to grow plants then the plants will grow best in sunlight, then grow light, then LED light, then black light, then no light because sunlight has the best spectrum of light for plant growth. Have your entire question and hypothesis on this slide, but summarize your reasoning. You want to talk about it, not have students read it while you talk.

Materials 5 tomato plants Black light bulb, grow light bulb, LED light bulb 5 boxes/large containers (to contain plants) 4 covers for blocking light Measuring tape or meter stick Access to power (for lights) Access to water Compost and/or soil 4 plant cages List with a quantity. When you present this you will just touch on key materials, but don’t read all of them to us.

Materials

The Process Five plants in boxes, three connected to power 200 mL/ water on first day, 100 mL after Mimic sunlight patterns Repeated for 13 days Measured plants every 3 days DO NOT copy your entire procedure. Give us a brief idea how you did this and include mostly photo’s or video instead of typed words. You can explain your photos or just narrate your video.

This is the most important part of your presentation. It should be clear and to the point. Avoid using the words I was wrong, or I was right. Always refer back to your original hypothesis. RAPPIN should be used as a guide, but don’t keep to that rigid format.
