During the summer I received a phone call from the police that I had sent a message to a phone looking for my daughter. The man and woman in posession of the phone had just been aprehended for three counts of human trafficking!!! This could be your baby!

Affects Violent lifestyle Forced drug use Constant threats Difficulty developing relationships

According to the Department of Justice, 83 % of sex trafficking victims are legal residents of this country, with the average age of victims starting out only 12 to 14. It is estimated that 80 % of trafficked girls have been abused at home or in foster care Essence Magazine, Sept. 2012

Traffickers, many of whom are part of organized criminal networks, are undoubtedly influenced by profits in an industry in which those are estimated to fall between $32 billion (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, 2007) and $91 billion (Kara, 2009).

Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking in the United States  journal article reports: At the same time-while adopting slogans, phrases, and images from "the world's oldest profession"--most individuals who engage in such practices fail to acknowledge the degradation, beating, and demoralization that the vast majority of female prostitutes experience at the hands of pimps.

Youths who have been involved in illegal activities, including those in commercial sex industries, have traditionally been viewed as offenders or delinquents. Many people remain unaware that U.S. youths can become victims of sex trafficking by traffickers who will exploit youths who are vulnerable, available, and naive. Many areas now have established human trafficking coalitions that know the programs and counselors in their areas that can serve this population. The national human trafficking hotline (888-3737-888) can also assist with information and referral to local service providers.
