Linear Relationships Y = mx + b m = slope b = y intercept ∆y/∆x = m b = y intercept Direct variation: straight line with b = 0
Parabolic Relationship One quantity varies as the square of the other Y = kx2 Resulting graph shows parabolic shape
Inverse Variation One quantity increases as the other decreases y = k/x or xy = k Resulting graph has hyperbolic shape
