Course Information Page

Course Overview Page ORANGE BOX: Please note, there are “bread crumbs” at the top of the inner box. These links allow you to move back and forth through the course without having to start all the way back at the beginning. For example, after you are done reading the Course Overview, you may want to go back to read the Course Schedule. Simply click on the “bread crumb” labeled “course information” to bring you back to the main page in this section.

Course Information Page

Course Schedule Page Yellow Box: Now let’s turn back to the “Course Menu” and click on the link entitled “Faculty.”

“Faculty” Information Page Yellow Box: Now let’s turn back to the “Course Menu” and click on the link entitled “Assignments.”

Course Assignments Main Page

Week 1 Assignments Yellow Box: Now let’s turn back to the “Course Menu” and click on the link entitled “Course Documents.”

Course Documents Main Page

Week 1 Course Documents Page Yellow Box: Now let’s turn back to the “Course Menu” and click on the link entitled “Communications.”

Communications Main Page Red Box 1: You can use the Communications page to send email to the trainers and fellow participants. This will be especially important to remember for the mini-training partner assignments that require you to send an email to your partner. Red Box 2: The Discussion Board is where 99% of the activity during the 6 online weeks of the Training Point will take place. There are two ways to access the discussion board. The first way is here, through the communications page. Yellow Box: The second way is to click on “Discussion Board” directly in the Course Menu. Let’s go to the discussion board now.

Discussion Board Main Page PLEASE NOTE: Participants’ views of this page will be slightly different. The instructor view is shown. However, the participant will see largely the same screen when they click on discussion board.

Week 1 Discussion Board: Threads and Posts Orange Box 1 & 2: These are threads. Threads are conversations within the larger discussion. You begin a thread (or conversation) by clicking on the link labeled “Thread.” We have highlighted this link in with a Green box. As in a real world conversation, two or more people may contribute their own thoughts to a thread. When someone adds to a thread, it is called a “post.” You can see how many “posts” have been added to each thread by looking under the column labeled “Total Posts.” We have circled this column here in green. To read and/or add to a thread, simply click on the title of it. The title of the thread is similar to the “subject line” in an email message. Blue Box: Let’s click on the first thread now to see what the conversation looks like.

First Thread in Week 1 Discussion Forum Red Circle: Notice this is how you can reply to this message with your own post to continue the conversation. Yellow Box: There is one more thing we would like to show you before we end our Blackboard tutorial. Please notice that there is a link to “Websites” in the Course Menu. By clicking this link, you will find many other resources that pertain to each week of the course. It is NOT required for the course that you look through these links. However, some of you may find that you are hungry for more information; in which case, these additional resources may be helpful to you.
