Inequalities are solved just like equations Inequalities are solved just like equations. When adding and subtracting, keep the inequality symbol the same. Examples 1 & 2:

Example 3 You are golfing and need to hit the ball over a lake in two strokes. The far edge of the lake is 300 feet away. Your first stroke travels 134 feet. How far does your second stroke need to travel to clear the lake?

If you multiply or divide both sides of an inequality by the same positive number, the inequality symbol doesn’t change If you multiply or divide both sides of an inequality by the same negative number, you must flip the inequality symbol
