The U.S. Constitution The Preamble (Introduction) is a vision statement of what we want our government to do.

Preamble to the Unites States Constitution, 1787   We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence*, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. *this is the British spelling. Look up the words you don’t know and translate the phrase into everyday language (using the skill of paraphrasing)
