What is a Learning Collaborative? An opportunity for organizations to make changes in the way they operate, while being supported by peers and experts.

Setting SMART Goals Specific Measureable Attainable Relevant Time limited

Are these goals SMART? SMART Goals Not so Smart House more families Increase exits to permanent housing by 25 percent over the next 3 months Decrease all average length of stay in homelessness to 60 days Add housing locator activities to job descriptions by next month Train all staff and board on best practices by next month House more families House more families more quickly Review job descriptions Education staff

Setting Learning Collaborative Benchmarks Increase exits to permanent housing Decrease length of time homeless Use resources efficiently Reduce barriers to housing

Establish Learning Collaborative Benchmarks What benchmarks should our Learning Collaborative set to reach our goal of quickly re-housing individuals and families experiencing homelessness, regardless of their barriers to housing. Small Group Activity: Three groups with one team member from shelter in a group. Each group will identify 3-4 specific benchmarks like: Increase exits to PH by 25% over the next 3 months Decrease all average LOS to 60 days Add housing locator activities to job descriptions by…… Train all staff and board on best practices by ……

Final Learning Collaborative Benchmarks Increase exits to permanent housing by… Decrease length of time homeless by… Use resources efficiently by… Reduce barriers to housing by…
