Goal Setting Practical Claire Ashton Lifestyle Management DITCH YOUR DIET

Practical session Pen and paper Set some time aside Without distractions Pause the talk/take your time GROW

Goal Think about your goal Make it positive What difference will this goal make to your life? What does success look like with regards to this goal? How will you measure that success? What is motivating you to achieve this goal? When do you want to be in this position? Taking yourself to that date, how will you be feeling having achieved your goal? Who is in control of achieving this goal? If you don’t achieve this goal how will you feel? How will you know when you achieve it? What will achieving this goal help me achieve in my life What is my identity when I have achieved this goal? Who do I need to be to achieve it? What will I say to myself? What values must I have? How do I treat others? How must I treat myself?

Reality Where are you now with your goal? What has stopped you from doing more? What is the excuse that you have always used for not achieving your goal? What is within your control when it comes to this goal? What is not in your control? What resources do you have to help you? What is your main concern about this goal? What strengths would your best friend say you had to help you achieve this goal?

Options What could you do that would move you one step closer to achieving your goal? What would your friend or partner tell you to do? What else could you do? Give me 3 more What’s missing? If someone came to you with this problem what advice would you give them? If you could wave a magic wand, what would this allow you to do?

Way Forward Which option will take you closer to your goal? What is the most important action you can take? When will you do this? How will you do that? What do you need to do to make it happen? On a scale of 1-10 how committed are you to taking this action? What do you need to do to move that number nearer to 10? What could stop you from taking this action? What would need to happen for this not to be a problem?

Conclusion How do you feel you have progressed towards your goal today? What have you learnt about yourself? What went well for you?
