History Winchester City Council, in conjunction with Winchester Go LD and River Park Leisure Centre as well as a number of other key partners, celebrate the success of the London 2012 Paralympic Games every year by providing a day full of sports activities for those with a range of additional needs to take part and compete against their own ability. In 2012 we had just 33 people attend taking part in 5 sports. Since then the event has grown and grown attracting between 80-90 participants and 9 different sports.

Paralympic Personal Bests 2017 Our next event will take place on Wednesday 23rd August 2017 and will be into it’s sixth year taking place at River Park Leisure Centre from 9.30am – 3.00pm. It is anticipated to attract over 100 people across the district and wider surroundings. This annual event also celebrates the strong partnership between Winchester City Council, Winchester Go LD and River Park Leisure Centre to generate more participation in disability sport.

Aims/ Objectives The aim of this event is to bring together children and adults with additional needs together to take part in day full of sport, providing clear exit routes for those that wish to continue beyond the summer. Our intensions are: - To organise a safe event for participants. - To provide an opportunity for participants to take part in a range of sports. - To promote an environment that will allow spectators and participants to enjoy the event. - To ensure all participants gain a sense of achievement and recognition. - To promote/ raise awareness of disability sport.

Venue River Park Leisure Centre, Gordon Road, Winchester, SO23 7DD. Facility includes - 25m swimming pool - 4 squash courts - Sports hall - 2 studios - Function room - Café - Gym - Tennis courts

Sports Over the years participants have taken part in a range of sports from football to table tennis as well as boccia and new age kurling. In 2017 we are planning to offer; - Swimming - Archery - Football - Tennis - Circuits - Cricket

Sponsorship Packages There are a number of ways you can sponsor this fantastic event; Event Sponsor - Become a key partner and sponsor the event Activity Sponsor - Sponsor one of our 6 sports Refreshment Sponsor - Sponsor the lunch/ refreshment breaks

Event Sponsor & Benefits At a cost of £1,200 you will become a key partner and sponsor the whole event. A representative from your organisation will be invited to attend and present prizes. You will have your organisation’s name and logo on the promotional material, press releases and certificates. Name of your organisation in the main hall. Photographs with the participants.

Activity Sponsor & Benefits At a cost of £100 you will become a an ‘Activity Sponsor’ for one of our 6 sports at the event. A representative from your organisation will be invited to attend. You will have your organisation’s name and logo on the promotional material and in the event location. Photographs with all participants

Refreshment Sponsor & Benefits As a ‘Refreshment Sponsor’ we would ask you to provide food or drinks for the participants. A representative from your organisation will be invited to attend. You will have your organisation’s name and logo in a prominent position on the day of the event. Photographs with the participants
