Identify the codes that are used in these frames What are the conventions that help you make meaning from these frames.

Codes and conventions As media students we need to understand these points: Each media genre has its distinctive codes and conventions  When reading a text closely we need to analyse how the codes and conventions have been used to create meaning

Codes Codes are systems of signs that create meaning. (Technical, symbolic, and aural codes Also codes of editing and narrative codes)  

Film codes = the system of signs used in film to give meaning. These are often referred to as techniques, or called the language of film

Conventions Conventions are the commonly accepted ways of doings things, or the common expectations and information we take from a text. Conventions operate by general agreement with the audience. Writers use these conventions and rely on audience expectations and responses to communicate meaning.
