Rights Respecting schools

1. I have the right to do whatever I want You can claim and exercise your rights as long as by doing so you do not restrict the rights of others

2. Some people have special rights No individual or group of people have special rights. Some members of society are more vulnerable and need greater protection to make sure their rights are upheld

3.Human rights can be taken away Human rights can never be taken away. But they can be denied or abused

4. I can always claim my human rights There is a big difference between rights and wants. No injustice is committed because you don’t get these. I want an I phone I want sweets.

5. Some human rights are more important than others Human rights are all the same, but different countries value them differently For example some countries say right to food and shelter is more important than free speech.

6. Not everyone has human rights …but there are some disagreements about how different rights are valued
