Energy And It’s Role In Turning The Wheels Of Tomorrow Emmanuel Gyebison and Andrew Chitwood

Factors that affect energy consumption Overview Problem Terawatt challenge Factors that affect energy consumption How can we start to make a difference E-bike How we built our E-bike EG

Problem Currently, energy consumption on a global level is growing exponentially, and the growth does not appear to flat line anytime soon. So how are we to account for our growth in the long run in a responsible way? We know how to control finite resources, but when it comes to renewable resources we can’t implement them on a large scale and in a cost effective way. Renewable energy can only go so far. AC

Terawatt challenge We read a paper by Nobel Laureate Richard E . Smalley about energy consumption of the future, and his question was, “How are going to meet those demands while taking into account the environment ?”

Terawatt challenge EG-smalley picture, terawatt challenge, estimation for 2050-b/c this is what you are challenging with your prediction; this is why you are looking at energy consumption

Factors that play into energy demand Population GDP Level of development for a country. Lifestyle AC

Making our own predictions We collected data from 1960-2010 for GDP, population, and energy usage Using Excel we made future predictions up to 2050 We observed that as population increases so should energy usage. We observed that when there is little growth in population, GDP doesn’t have much of an impact on energy usage. We realized that a country with high population growth but little growth in GDP has lower growth in energy consumption. EG India vs. China-divide into what was done; what was observed;

Sustainability Analysis: EG

There is no single solution to the energy crisis problem. Conclusion There is no single solution to the energy crisis problem. We are all going to have to do our part, by making little changes in our life.
