Helping your child with Maths at home Number and place value I can read and write numbers from 1 to 20 in digits and words. I can recognise 10s and 1s in 2 digit numbers. I understand the words hundreds, tens and ones. I can say one more or one less than any given number within 100. Decimals, fractions and percentages I know the value of all UK coins and notes. I can combine coins to make a given amount up to £1. I can halve and quarter shapes.   Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division I know all number bonds and subtraction facts to 20. I can add a single digit number to another single digit number mentally. I can subtract a single digit number from another single digit number mentally. I can double all numbers to 20. I can halve all even numbers to 20.   Shape I can recognise squares, rectangles, circles and triangles. I can recognise cubes, cuboids and spheres. I can create patterns using colours and 2D shapes.  

Phonics Assessment Year 1 Daily phonics session -What is phonics? Once children begin learning sounds, these sounds are used orally to identify and make words. -They will then begin to learn the letters which make each of the sounds in FS and these are used to read and spell words.

The phonics screening check 40 words One-to-one Approximately ten minutes 20 real and 20 pseudo words What are pseudo words? Why are they included?

E-Safety E-safety lesson each half-term As with all internet use, we recommend that parents supervise their child at all times.

Uniform Please name all items that your child brings into school We have PE on Thursday and Games on Friday (weather permitting). PE and Games kit should include White T-shirt/Emerald t-shirt White shorts Tracksuit trousers Tracksuit jacket Trainers (and socks) Pumps (optional) It would be helpful if all the above could be in school at all times and in two separate bags where possible.

Other items at school Your child is encouraged to bring a named water bottle to school to use in the classroom. Painting apron/old shirt Please try to send your child’s reading record and book to school every day.
