Fig. 1 Adult female with history of 1) prolonged events of thrashing with loss of awareness 2) twitches 3) ‘absences’. Typical examples of attack types 1) and 2) were captured and found to be non-epileptic. Figure shows EEG during the offset of attack type 1) with symmetrical alpha rhythm, heart rate at the upper limit of the patient’s resting heart rate and rhythmic low amplitude non-evolving 5Hz tremor on the right deltoid trace. This attack lasted for 33min with intermittent cessation of shaking (e.g. first second of screenshot). Eyes were closed for the duration of the attack and resistance to eye opening was documented.
