WHY is this story important? (Why should we care) We should care about this story since the Philippines has always been a strategic area between the East and West. People should be guaranteed the right to a fair trial. Duterte seems to be competing with both the United States and China. This could cause future problems.

CONNECT the article PART I What does it have to do with me? (How is it connected to anything I’ve learned or I am learning in class?) I firmly believe that issues of drug use is a health problem, not a criminal problem. But, I also believe a country has the right to sovereignty. Also, I worry about instability in the region.
