The mission of the Willimantic Whitewater Partnership is to recapture the waterfront of the Willimantic River by developing an urban waterfront and whitewater park, increasing safe access to the river for residents, restoring the environment, and celebrating the cultural history of the Willimantic River in Willimantic, Connecticut.

Willimantic is a former city, now borough & special-services district of the Town of Windham

TRAILS The hub of a linear park system that will incorporate rivers, parks, and trails.

VISION FOR LAGI PROJECT Integrates into a fully completed park that attracts visitors, hikers, cyclists, kayakers, canoeists, and community members Has a “wow” factor Enhances and showcases the natural beauty of the river and the wildlife it supports Is relevant to the location by building on its history Supports recreation by serving as a multi-trail hub and providing water sport access Serves as a welcoming gateway to Willimantic Generates its own energy
