ICT IN EDUCATION MODULE ECDL FORUM BUDAPEST 2016 ICT IN EDUCATION MODULE PILOT 2016

ICT IN EDUCATION PILOT 3 Centres identified 2 Teacher training colleges and 1 private school Mutare Teachers’ College, Seke Teachers’ College, Hellenic Academy Module introduced in January and had to be completed in March 2016

WHY TEACHER TRAINING COLLEGES? To get feedback from the student teachers’ perspective on the relevance of the module A Ministry of Education directive that all teachers should use IT as a teaching tool

WHY A PRIVATE SCHOOL? To get feedback on the relevance of the module in the actual school environment

EXAMS Seke Teachers College was ready for the exams at the end of March 2016 Temporary Registration cards were prepared for the purposes of the exam. Candidates were nervous about the exam so they identified 4 candidates would take the first exam After these had gone through the exam 33 others took the exam

CHALLENGES Visually challenged students will have problems in using the learning Moodle/platform. Virtual learning environment was new to some of the candidates Limited time to go through the module and take exams Lack of basic computer skills by some students especially those in the Art & Design, Music and Food & Nutrition.

IMPACT Mutare Teachers’ College principal saw the relevance of the module and gave a directive that all final year students go through the module so they graduate with the qualification End of May 2016, 300 teachers at the college are certifying in the module

IMPACT CONT. More Teacher training Colleges interested in the module Schools also interested in the module and seeing the relevance Ministry of Education seeing the relevance of the module
